The Cinque Terre include the coastal area where the five famous and picturesque villages of the Ligurian Riviera are located, which from South to North are: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monterosso.
The area, which includes the coast, a Marine Protected area, and the hillside settlements, was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997 due to its unique characteristics.

Manarola was most likely established during the Roman era thanks to its breathtaking views. Corniglia is situated on a hilltop with views and is accessible from the local train station by climbing around 400 stairs. Of the five villages, Vernazza is the only one with a natural harbor and a gorgeous sandy beach is in Monterosso.
