One of the most important church in Siena is the Church of San Domenico also known as Basilica Cateriniana, it was founded by the Dominicans and houses the relics of Santa Caterina, one of the two patron saints of Siena.
Near San Domenico Church there is Fonte Branda which in the Middle Ages was one of the main water sources of the city.

Opposite the facade of the Cathedral stands the Hospital of Santa Maria della Scala, one of the oldest hospitals in Europe, now a museum.
